As Feza Engineering, we use precise die cutting to shape the sheets and rolls of silicone materials that meet all your sealing and insulation requirements, and we can achieve tight tolerances in large and small gasket sizes.
Do you need die cut silicone rubber gaskets? Do you use special silicone gaskets with pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) or other adhesive backing? Learn more about our gasket cutting and forming capabilities.
SOLID SILICONE GASKETS
Solid silicone gaskets are made from tightly packed solid rubber materials with a molecular structure.
-
They have lower durometers (hardness) and compression ratios than sponge silicones
- However, not all solid silicones are "soft."
- Low durometer solid silicones provide strong circumferential sealing with low closing force
- Solid silicone gaskets with mid-range durometer require greater closing force
SPONGE SILICONE GASKETS
Sponge silicone gaskets are made of sponge-like silicone compounds that provide cushioning and filling. Feza Engineering cuts and converts both basic types of sponge silicone material.
- Open cell silicone gaskets contain interconnected pockets that allow water, chemicals and air to pass through unless the gasket is compressed.
- Closed cell silicone gaskets are filled with nitrogen gas to prevent passage of these materials at low pressures.
FOAM SILICONE GASKETS
Foam silicone gaskets are made of soft, medium, tight or extra hard silicone grades for varying amounts of compressibility.
- They have a lower compression set than sponge silicone gaskets
- Offer enhanced flame resistance
Feza Engineering cuts and shapes three basic foam silicone materials: open-cell, closed-cell, and silicone rubber with both open and closed cells. Like solid silicones and sponge silicones, foam silicones have numerous applications.
Silicone Gasket Applications
Silicone gaskets are used in medical, electronic, military, food processing and shipping related applications. Due to the temperature stability of silicone rubber, these elastomers are great for high temperature seals and low temperature seals. Non-toxic, chemically inert silicone is also a good choice for sanitary applications. Fillable EMI shields with silicon metal particles, and fluorine with added fuel and a chemical resistance.
